Fly Casting this weekend with Robert and Anita December 18th. thru 20th. 2010

December 18th 2010This weekend was the best.  It was a little frostrating at first but it made me feel great.  This weekend we went to the Smokey Mountains, Townsend to be exact.  Since we were going to up neer a stream I asked Anita and Robert, If they wanted to try thier had at fly fishing.  My daughter ask me "like the movie River Runs Through It"?  I said "yea sorta".  My son Robert right away said "I know were to get a fly fishing outfit for pritty cheap".  I said look know we can not just go out and start fly fishing, it takes a little practice.  So I think we should look at it as Just learning to cast a fly rod line.  My son said dad it cant be that hard to get the line to wip out to were you want it.   I told then that we need to get the basics down and we will go from there.
When we got to the cabin Anita and Robert ran down to the Stream.  Anita came back up right away and said dad this is not going to work.  In confussion I said what do you mean.  She said dad the water, what about the water I said She procedded to tell me that it was Freezing cold and wanted to know how long will it take for the sun to heat up the water?
Well after a little explaning to Anita about the water I called robert up to the van and we finished unpacking and went into the cabin.

Getting Ready

This year is the year my son Robert and my Daughter Anita want to learn how to fish with other rigs other than a Worm and bobber.

I have taken Robert and Anita on many fishing trips, although they have been more interested in seeing if he could get the fish to follow the worm around in circles, or see how fast he could reel thier line back in and the best of all seeing if they could jerk thier bobbers hard enough to fly over the boat or pier.

This past November we started to put together their fishing boxs. Now, I know what I would like to put in thier boxs although, they have thier own ideas. they have been checking out the lures and baits at every store we go to. They have grown to like the Rapala Lures, Zoom baits and Storm soft baits. Yhey read about them every day and I think they read reviews over and over. They can tell you allot about a lure if you ask them. They are excited about getting out on the water and trying out what they have learned on the web. I hope they are not disappointed when they get out on the water and do'nt catch anything.

This cumming year, I believe, will be an adventure.
